Alanna Komisar

Alanna is climate mitigation and adaptation professional with over a decade of experience supporting the building sector’s low-carbon transition. Her specialties include energy efficiency, climate adaptation, facilitation, and project management.
Prior to Mantle Developments, she worked as a consultant where she promoted energy efficiency measures through demand-side management programs focusing on City-owned buildings and industrial operations. Alanna supported the development of the Cleantech ecosystem through her work in the nonprofit sector and at a Canadian start-up by implementing of carbon utilization technologies in the concrete sector across North America.
She began her career as a physical risk consultant where created strategies for commercial and industrial operations to mitigate risks from hazards such as climate-related events, fires, and explosions.
Through her volunteer work, she researched the disproportional impact of climate change on women in indigenous Southeast Asian communities and explored adaptation solutions through indigenous knowledge and nature-based solutions.
She has an undergraduate degree in civil engineering from the University of Toronto where she explored energy-efficient upgrades for heritage buildings and a master’s in mechanical engineering where she created digital tools for ISO37120 standards to help cities better understand their energy consumption.
