Climate Project Manager
Who we need
At Mantle Developments, we build climate leaders. To do that, we need smart, mission-driven team members. We focus on greening the built environment through embodied carbon life cycle assessment and management, operational carbon management, net-zero and climate resilience strategies, and building certifications - including LEED, Zero Carbon Building Standard, Toronto Green Standard, and others. We need an experienced and talented Climate Project Manager with the passion and expertise to skillfully support our projects in these and other emerging areas of climate action.

You are a self-starter, team player, and doer. You communicate well, empathize with clients and teammates, and are highly organized and engaged. You are passionate about working on innovative, emerging topics in the built environment, and you aren’t afraid to ask questions.
We are open to remote working arrangements, with Toronto being the preferred location for this role due to our office location and the high number of clients based there.

- Managing multiple projects and clients, including:
- Working with real estate developers and manufacturers who are pioneering development efforts to minimize whole-life cycle carbon
- Working with portfolio and company-level GHG management, strategy and sustainability, and climate-related frameworks and disclosure programs, including SBTi, SASB, GRESB, CDPF, GHG Protocol, and others.
- Managing climate and green building rating systems, certifications, and mandatory compliance documentation, including LEED, Zero Carbon Building Standard, Toronto Green Standard, and others
- Working with government entities on climate-related policy development

- Providing support functions, including writing proposals and project or policy-related marketing pieces, copyediting reports
Qualifications – What you bring to our collaborative team:
- Passion for our purpose. You are deeply committed to improving the climate and are excited to help clients be climate leaders.
- Experience
- Minimum 5 - 8 years of working in sustainability.
- A minimum of 3 years managing projects and clients.
- Experience consulting with real estate, design & construction, manufacturing, government, and/ or engineering clients is an asset.
- Education
- A post-secondary degree in engineering or environmental science is preferred.
- Advanced degrees (MASc, MSc, MBA, Ph.D.), PEng, and LEED AP or similar designations are assets.
- Technical skills
- Proven experience leading projects through high-quality project management.
- Additional technical skills are assets:
- Expertise in carbon life cycle assessments, GHG accounting, green building certifications, and/ or energy modeling.
- Experience in performing energy modeling and energy audits, including ASHRAE Level II audits, is an asset.
- Experience in project and construction cost estimation and pro forma is an asset.
- Highly functional use of enterprise software tools (Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, Slack, etc.)
- Experience with project software tools, including One Click LCA and Open LCA, is an asset.
- Project leadership. You are a strategic thinker with solid project and client management skills, business acumen, accountability, and financial proficiency. You have:
- Very strong ability to communicate, both written and verbal.
- Ability to influence and inspire project teams to achieve goals and objectives effectively and engender accountability within project teams.
- Expertise in partnering with internal and external stakeholders to identify business challenges and opportunities to develop effective strategies.
- The drive to stay up-to-date or ahead of the curve with best practices.
- PMP certification or demonstrated project management experience is an asset.
