Director, LCA Services

Who we need

At Mantle Developments, we build climate leaders. To do that, we need smart, mission-driven team members. We focus on greening the built environment through embodied carbon life cycle assessment and management, operational carbon management, net-zero and climate resilience strategies, and green building certifications - including LEED, Zero Carbon Building Standard, Toronto Green Standard, and others. We need an experienced and talented Director with the passion and expertise to skillfully support our projects in these and other emerging areas of climate action.

You are a self-starter, team player, and doer. You communicate well, empathize with clients and teammates, are highly organized and engaged, and have a strong sense of accountability. You are passionate about working on innovative, emerging topics in the built environment and aren’t afraid to ask questions. You have a strong sense of accountability and honed communication skills.

We are open to remote working arrangements, with Toronto being the preferred location for this role due to our office location and the high number of clients based there.

Key Responsibilities

A chance to support, educate, build, inspire, and strategize. Your time here would include:

  • Develop and continuously improve Mantle’s LCA service offering. This includes owning
    decisions on methodology, software, deliverables, and staffing, in collaboration with
    Mantle leadership.
  • Conduct life cycle assessments (LCAs) for both whole buildings and products, and, at
    times, performing project management duties.
  • Building out and streamlining our EPD service offering.
  • Develop and maintain LCA service knowledge for team members, as well as
    expectations for LCA work.
  • Co-develop LCA service KPIs and lead in their achievement.
  • Co-develop a data strategy for LCA service-related data, including client data and
    calculations.
  • Continuous learning: we have a learning culture and offer many opportunities for
    professional development.
  • Providing support functions, including contributing to sales, BD and marketing efforts
    related to LCA.

Qualifications – What you bring to our collaborative team:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in management, preferably in sustainability-related roles
  • Strong understanding of life cycle assessment methodologies and standards (ISO
    14040/14044, ISO 14025)
  • Proficiency in carbon management platforms and LCA software
  • Excellent data analysis and interpretation skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Strong management skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in sustainability, environmental management, or related field
  • Product or service management experience
  • Certification in LCA or carbon footprint analysis
  • Experience with green design principles, low-carbon products and circularity concepts
  • Familiarity with greenhouse gas accounting standards (e.g., GHG Protocol)
